France as UNSC president quizzed on DRC scandals but no response and no access to press

UN GATE, September 1 – As France takes over the presidency of the UN Security Council on September 1, 2022, Inner City Press wrote on August 31 to the French Mission to the UN asking in advance for the access to its September 1 press conference by Ambassador Nicolas de Rivière.

Inner City Press asked the French Mission and the UN about the MONUSCO scandal – sex for UN volunteer jobs paid for with taxpayers’ money – in the DRC Congo. Inner City Press exclusive here. His email to listed Mission spokesperson Alexis MOJAISKY came back as follows:

“I am no longer in post at the French Mission to the UN. Please contact Marjolaine Brée ([email protected]) or my successor, Alexandre Neymann ([email protected]), who takes on Monday, August 29.”

But Mr. Neymann did not respond. And, perhaps surprisingly for a spokesperson in 2022, he doesn’t appear to be on Twitter.

Instead, a fraudulent press conference by Nicolas de Rivière, with softball questions in French (video here) and a final question of inconsistency from a long-time retired correspondent who again this week literally fell asleep in the briefing room.

This while Inner City Press is barred from entry, which it had for years until it exposed UN corruption. No response to this call. Impunity.

Inner City Press will be covering the French Presidency quite actively this month. He publishes the empty work program of France, here: Yemen on September 8, South Sudène on the 15th, then a long void until the 27th.

A meeting on Ukraine on September 22, no outcome should even be attempted, de Rivière said. He said the genocide in Xinjiang is not within the purview of the Security Council – but Ethiopia/Tigray “clearly” is.

He claimed that Macron is all about the responsibility to protect.

Well, no freedom of the press. Our requests and questions remain; we will publish all answers, as well as non-answers. Look at this site.
