France expresses the quintessence of European solidarity, cooperation is growing — Greek City Times

“France expresses the embodiment of European solidarity, as provided for by the Treaty of Lisbon,” said Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias in a statement after a working breakfast organized on Monday by the French Embassy in Athens.

The working breakfast was held on the occasion of France taking over the six-monthly presidency of the Council of the European Union, for the ambassadors of the other EU Member States.

“Cooperation with our ally France is getting stronger every day in all areas,” Dendias said.

He said that during his discussion with the ambassadors of EU member states, he spoke about the challenges Greece is facing, such as the problems in the Balkans.

However, this mostly refers to the escalation of Turkey’s rhetoric, which had reached entirely new levels, a level where it openly challenged Greece’s sovereignty over the eastern Aegean islands.

“Furthermore, I highlighted the overtures that Greece is making in foreign policy, which it is following under the orders of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with my visits both to Africa and to various other countries and the great interest that Greece is now bringing to sub-Saharan Africa, in which France, protecting European interests, is extremely active,” Dendias said.

The priorities of the French Presidency for the first half of 2022 were also discussed and Dendias thanked French Ambassador Patrick Maisonnave for organizing the meeting.

Meanwhile, Dendias met with Qatar’s new ambassador to Greece Waleed Al-Emadi at the Foreign Ministry in Athens on Monday.

Dendias wished him a successful tenure as during their meeting they discussed Greece-Qatar relations, the foreign ministry said on Twitter.

Later on Monday, Nikos Dendias welcomed the Republic of Korea’s new Ambassador to Greece, Jung Il Lee, and wished him a successful tenure.

Their talks focused on deepening bilateral relations in light of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to a second foreign ministry. Tweeter.
