Arnaud Kalimuendo scored two goals for Lens to continue his momentum with a 2-0 victory over Reims at 10 in the French league on Friday.

The 19-year-old Kalimuendo, loaned to Lens for the second time by Paris Saint-Germain, opened the scoring in added time in the first half after a penalty conceded by Reims midfielder Hugo Ekitike.

Ekitike was Reims’ Player of the Match with two goals in their 3-1 win over Nantes last weekend, but he caught Kevin Danso of Lens in the face with the sole of his boot and was given a card red after a VAR check.

Kalimuendo chained his first goal for Lens since his return with his second in the 52nd, brilliantly set up by Florian Sotoca.

Lens consolidated second place after losing just one of their nine games so far.

Reims fell to 12th place after their third loss, having played one more game than their mid-range rivals.

One of them, Rennes, welcomes the championship leader, Paris Saint-Germain, on Sunday. Defending champion Lille hosts third, Marseille, also on Sunday.
